At UB Academy, our Advanced Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Filler Course (£1,995, 10 CPD points) empowers healthcare professionals to master complex aesthetic procedures like chin augmentation.
Led by Dr. Rachael, a GP with over a decade of aesthetic expertise, this course teaches advanced techniques to enhance facial harmony for clients with a dimpled or flat chin. Read on for a case study showcasing the transformative power of this procedure and why it’s a key part of our advanced training. Ready to elevate your skills? Case Study: Chin Augmentation for a Dimpled Chin
Client Profile: A 34-year-old female client presented with a dimpled chin, causing uneven texture and a lack of facial balance. She felt self-conscious about her profile and sought a non-surgical solution to improve her chin’s appearance.
Procedure:
During our Advanced Course, a trainee used a combination of Botulinum Toxin and Hyaluronic Acid-based Dermal Fillers to address the dimpled chin. The technique involved:
- Assessment: Analysing the chin’s anatomy and mentalis muscle activity to identify the cause of dimpling.
- Injection Technique: Administering small amounts of high-viscosity filler (e.g. a robust Hyaluronic Acid product) and botulinum toxin using a needle. The filler was carefully layered to smooth the dimpling and enhance projection, creating a balanced profile while the botulinum toxin helps to relax the muscles that causes dimpling.
- Outcome: Post-treatment, the client’s chin appeared smoother and more defined, enhancing her jawline and boosting her confidence. The results, visible immediately, are expected to last 12-18 months with minimal downtime.
Why Chin Augmentation is an Advanced Technique
Chin augmentation uses a combination of both Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers making it a sophisticated procedure requiring precision and expertise. The technique demands a thorough understanding of facial anatomy, including the mentalis muscle and nearby vascular structures, to achieve natural results while minimising risks.
Techniques Taught:
- Cannula vs. Needle: Trainees learn both methods to deliver fillers safely, with cannulas reducing vascular risks and needles offering precision for superficial dimpling.
- Layering and Volume Control: Strategic placement in deep and superficial layers to correct dimpling or enhance projection without overfilling.
- Anatomy-Driven Approach: Mapping the chin’s musculature and vasculature to ensure safe, effective outcomes.
Risks Involved:
- Vascular Complications: Incorrect placement near the mental artery can lead to occlusion, requiring immediate management with hyaluronidase.
- Asymmetry or Overcorrection: Overfilling can distort the chin, necessitating advanced skills to achieve balance.
- Infection or Nodule Formation: Poor technique or hygiene can cause complications, which our course addresses through rigorous training protocols.
These risks highlight why chin augmentation is reserved for our Advanced Course, where trainees practice under expert supervision to master safe, transformative techniques.
